Dear Friends and Supporters, It was been a busy couple of months as I took a long trip down south, first to attend the Tommy Emmanuel Guitar Camp in Nashville, followed by long drive to the far side of Arkansas (Mena), which is really close to the Oklahoma border, to spend a week with my high school classmate, Richard Peck, and concluding the trip with a few days in Knoxville on the return trip to camp. All and all, I think I drove close to 3000 miles and I was really glad to get back home and get back involved with the retreat programs at New Life Bible Camp.
Here is the Prayer Calendar for October 2024.
October 4-6 Seneca Creek Community Church, let by Kristine Vernier, will be at New Life this weekend for a Junior High retreat. We will be providing food service for this event.
October 7: I hope to have my dental work completed today. Thank you Dr. Ryan. You are a life saver!
October 8: I am meeting with DJ Ritchey to discuss becoming part of their pastoral staff when I retire from New Life. The plan is to work 20 hours per week and helping DJ with visitation, Men’s Ministry, and some Bible teaching.
October 8-12 Planted Ministries will be with us again for a middle of the week adventure event, arriving Tuesday and departing SAT morning
October 11-13 This weekend is currently open as the group that had booked it needed to move their event to a November date.
October 18-20: This weekend NLBC will host the annual Teen Retreat with speaker Timothy Donaldson. Should be a great time and reunion with campers and staff.
October 25-27 Westview Baptist Church has moved their retreat event to an open weekend in November.
Future Events: Luncheon at the Lodge with John Topper is NOV 13!
Praises:
1: I had a great time at the guitar camp. I got to talk to Tommy Emmanuel for a couple minutes but the highlight was a one on one session with another of my guitar hero’s (and a great example of a godly man) Doyle Dykes.
2: I had a good visit with my high school classmate to his awesome cabin in Mena. AR, but concluded that it were I felt the Lord leading me as a retirement destination
3: The Lord is making it clear that the best thing for me when I retire is to stay in the area so I don’t have to disconnect from all camp activities.
4: The Lord was also opened a ministry opportunity for me to be a paid pastoral assistant to DJ Ritchey, pastor of Memorial Heights Baptist Church in Cumberland (about 30 south of New Life Bible Camp.
Prayer Requests:
1: Pray for the family of Susan Strickland. She was killed in the big mud slide that devastated part of Asheville, NC. We went to Ben Lippen School together and remained friends all these years. I already miss her a ton.
2: Pray for other friends and family of mine who are dealing with the damage from Hurricane Helene. Lots of devastation.
3: Pray that the Lord will provide for all my needs when the time for retirement does occur (financial needs such as living expenses, medical, etc.). I am praying about wisdom as I look ahead for what the Lord has for me next.
Thanks again for praying for me and the ministry of New Life Bible Camp! We owe all your prayer warriors a lot! God bless you all!
Ever Only Jesus,
Andy Maples
