It’s September…for many, this may mean the beginning of Pumpkin Spice Lattes, or fall decorations, here at camp, it means we are heading into a new season of retreats following summer camp, and that brings a lot of opportunities for ministry. How was summer camp? I often get asked that question and it is usually summed up in a few short words such as “It went really well” or “Tiring, but a good tired”. The truth is, that it is hard to summarize the impact that camp had on the 563 campers, 21 summer staff, and 34 volunteers that came to New Life this summer. Our prayer is that each life that comes through our doors will be impacted by God. That prayer reflects our camp’s mission statement, which says, “New Life Bible Camp provides a camp environment where God’s Word can impact lives for God’s glory”. We are thankful for the 33 campers that we know of this summer that made a decision to follow Christ and the 7 who had reassurance of their faith in Christ. We rejoice in the promise of Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” We know that as these campers go home that God’s Word will continue to work in their hearts and we as a staff will be praying for them through the year.
Johanna and I just celebrated our 15th anniversary on August 29th. I am thankful for an amazing wife who loves the Lord and is helping to instill God's Word into our boys' lives. She is homeschooling Joses who is in 5th grade and Eran who is in 3rd grade.
This month, the staff house that we live in will be undergoing a renovation project. The kitchen, dining room, laundry room and hallway will all be renovated with new flooring, electrical updates and cabinets. Much of this work will be done by volunteers and we are thankful for God’s provision to do this project. Work on this project will begin on Thursday, September 12th. If you are interested in volunteering Thursday thru Saturday, or just a few hours of a particular day, please let Chris know and we will add you to our list of volunteers.
I want to thank you all for your continued support and prayers for us as we continue to minister here at New Life and for being a part of helping to impact kids' lives for God’s glory.
